چکیده

Analytical models to describe the material and connection behaviour of key components sheathed cold-formed steel wall systems are developed assessed in present paper. The experimental data generated collected companion paper (Kyprianou et al. [1]) utilised for calibration models. assembled database comprises results more than 400 physical tests, featuring tests on plasterboard oriented strand board (OSB), screw connector as well such pull-through push-out tests. Ramberg–Osgood model (Ramberg Osgood [2]) was shown accurately stress–strain both OSB longitudinal transverse direction tension compression, while Mander (Mander [3]) also capture compression materials follow post peak unloading response. A generalised curve with linear post-peak adopted describing load-deformation screws plasterboard, a similar formulation, but different exponents initial subsequent parts shear load-slip steel-to-board connections. Predictive expressions ultimate capacities recommended values remaining parameters provided herein. predictive suitable use numerical simulations advanced design methods.

Analysis of Sheathed Cold-Formed Steel Wall Studs

The strength of sheathed wall systems is substantially greater than unsheathed walls with the same studs. Testing on studs sheathed on both sides with dry gypsum board demonstrate strength increases as large as 70% over unsheathed studs (Miller and Peköz 1993, Miller and Peköz 1994). The current AISI Specification for sheathed wall stud systems are complicated, only apply when the sheathing is ...

Bracing Stiffness and Strength in Sheathed Cold-formed Steel Stud Walls

The objective of this paper is to provide the stiffness and strength characteristics for coldformed steel stud walls stabilized by sheathing. The primary stability resistance is provided by translational (lateral) stiffness supplied at the fastener locations to the cold-formed steel studs. This paper separates the source of this translational stiffness into two parts: local and diaphragm. To an...

Analytical Assessment of the Behaviour of the Masonry Wall Strengthed by Steel Mesh and Shotcrete

An effective approach for strengthening masonry buildings is to apply shotcrete reinforced with mesh on the surface of the wall. It is not possible to assess the behaviour of coated walls solely using analytical approaches based on simple equations of theory of elasticity without the use of numerical methods. Unreinforcced masonry wall is modelled in this study using the finite element softwar...

Experimental Investigation on Cold-formed Steel Wall Plate System

A series of tests on cold-formed steel (CFS) wall plate system subjected to uplift force at the mid span of the wall plate is presented. The aim of the study was to study the behaviour and identify the modes of failure of CFS wall plate system. Two parameters were considered in these studies: 1) different dimension of U-bracket at the supports and 2) different sizes of lipped Cchannel. The lipp...
